View Full Version : a VERY stupid question

I feel really stupid for not being able to figure this out, but how do I download and install Flash?

I go to the website and get to the part where it says this:

Important Message: You may need to click the gold bar at the top of the browser window to allow the install.

When you see the installation completion movie above and text below, your installation was successful. The installation should only take a minute or two on a 56k modem.

All I can see in the box is a small red x within a small square at the top left corner.

Does anyone have any suggestions or solutions?

I have no idea what is wrong or what I'm doing (or not doing) to not get this to work.

PS I really want to see the Prey page; this is one of the prime reasons I want Flash. And so many other game sites are Flash only......

WEll, there is a little rotating message above the install button... When you the the text spin around, it's a sign for the flash plugin is installed... (because that rotating image is a flash image...)

There won't appear any download window or anything, it all happens on the site... Maybe it's already installed.. You just didn't noticed it yet...

or

http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash

thanks for your help guys....but no such luck.

I'm fairly certain that it is not already installed because whenever i go to a flash based site it gives that blank screen with the red x.

Is is possible that it is already installed but i need to activate it somehow??

I know basically nothing about these sorts of things so i need all the help i can get....

thanks.

I have just experienced something wierd at my cousins PC...
Appearantly he has both shockwave and flash installed... but when i visited Youtube.com video's wouldn't load... It said that my flash player either isn't installed, or that it has been de-activated on that site...

But on Google.video.com it worked just fine... So i'd like to know how to activate it too..!

OMG, that's exactly what happened with me!

Google video ran like a charm, but I can't get any other flash based content working.

If you or anyone else figures out how to install this, please post here.

What browser are you using?

Maybe you should enable Java script in the security options of your browser?

Youy were almost there. Click the non-standard level of security button with Internet highlighted in the top. You'll find it there.
